We’ve written about him before, but if you like ramen noodles, you need to visit The Ramen Rater, aka Edmonds resident Hans Lienesch, who makes it his business to review these noodle concoctions (in fact, he’s about ready to post review 986). And, if you want to learn more about Lienesch and his passion for ramen, you can watch KING-TV’s “Evening Magazine” this Friday at 7 p.m., when he will be featured.
Lienesch has received moderate media attention locally, but has been a ramen sensation overseas, where he has been featured in publications in Korea, Brazil and the Netherlands, to name a few. He attributes that to a very competitive international ramen noodle market, which he compared to the U.S. soft drink industry — many brands all vying for consumers’ attention and grocery store shelf space.
One Korean publication even dubbed him “The Ramen God.”
In addition to reviewing noodles, he also writes stories about ramen-related topics. Check out this latest story on his website, about a new ramen noodle bowl designed with an iPhone holder on the side — appropriately named the “Anti-Loneliness Ramen Bowl.”
