Five-year assistant Rebekah Wells named new EWHS girls basketball coach

Rebekah Wells, who has spent the past five seasons as Edmonds-Woodway High School’s assistant girls basketball coach — including the team’s two trips to the state 4A tournament — on Wednesday was named to head the program. She replaces Duane Hodges, whose contract was not renewed for next year.

Wells is a 2004 graduate of Edmonds-Woodway High School, where she was a a three-sport athlete, competing in basketball, soccer, and track and field. She also played on the women’s basketball team at Willamette University.

“We are all very impressed with what Rebekah has to offer the Edmonds-Woodway girls’ basketball program,” said Angie McGuire, EWHS athletic director.  “We believe Rebekah has the knowledge and motivation to continue the strong basketball tradition at E-W, and in addition, we feel she has the ability to positively impact her athletes in their character, leadership and academic development.”
