Author Mary Daheim will be speaking at the Edmonds Bookshop on Saturday, March 16th, at noon.
Her mysteries and historical romances have been delighting readers for decades. A Northwest timber town called Alpine lives on in her stories even though the actual town was abandoned in the 1930s. The series begins with “Alpine Advocate” and “Alpine Betrayal,” then progresses alphabetically to the most recent release, “Alpine Xanadu.”
According to the bookshop, local reader Tim Raetzloff, owner of Abarim Computers, was so inspired by the books he went in search of the remains of Alpine. “After much tramping around in the woods he and his friends uncovered the ghost town near Stevens Pass. An effort to create a trail with historical markers is underway.” You can read more about Alpine here.
