Reminder: My Edmonds News publisher to speak at Friends of Edmonds Library meeting Thursday

Ever wonder why anyone would spend most of her Tuesday nights sitting through Edmonds City Council meetings or her days writing about everything from lost pets to found car keys to new ways to help balance the city budget? Listen to some war stories and learn more about what it takes to run a 24/7 online news enterprise when Teresa Wippel, publisher of My Edmonds News, makes a presentation to the Friends of the Edmonds Library at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 28.at the Library’s upstairs Plaza Room, 650 Main St.

The official title of Wippel’s presentation is “The Real Price of a Free Press: The shaky state of journalism in the 21st Century,” and she promises to cover that topic, too. After all, where better than a library audience to discuss the importance of a free press to a democratic society. But producing small town community news is also a lot of fun, and Wippel plans to engage the audience in what it means to run “an online gathering place for neighbors and friends.”

  1. What a confluence of two things I highly value: libraries and journalism. Perfect venue for you Teresa!

  2. Teresa,
Will the transcript of your talk be posted on myedmonds? How about a video for those of us who are unable to attend?
    Congrats,
    Dru

  3. Teresa,

Frankly, I don’t know how you have the energy for all of it! Good luck with your presentation!

BTW, I can see why Dave Page was confused about the time. The headline left me confused at first glance:

On the other hand, Dave and I are easily confused. 🙂
