City of Edmonds offers hiking trip to Rockport State Park

On Saturday, April 13, Edmonds Parks & Recreation is offering a trip to Rockport State Park, located at the base of 5,400-foot Sauk Mountain.

The ancient forest in the park was never logged, and the entire ecosystem remains in place.  This is a fairly easy, 5-mile hike, with only 250 feet elevation gain.

The cost — $46 for residents, $53 for non-residents, — includes round-trip transportation from Edmonds.  Ages 10 and up are welcome, under 18 must register with an adult.  Call 425-771-0230 or register online at www.reczone.org.

  1. As park staff, I can be available to introduce your hiking group to the forest if you give me an approx. time of arrival.

All trails are open with only a few muddy spots. The Evergreen Trail loop is the longest, but the largest Douglas fir tree are on the Fern Creek trail , 100 yards from old campground roadway.

Glad you cam arrange such a great outing!
