The City of Edmonds recently was recognized as a winner of a Survey Award in Community Transit’s 16th annual Smart Commuter Awards. The awards honor individuals and businesses in Snohomish County and Bothell that represent, through their actions and incentives to employees, the goals of the state’s Commute Trip Reduction law.
The awards are selected by a group of Employee Transportation Coordinators representing various participating companies who volunteer on a Peer Advisory Board. Each year, these coordinators survey their workforce about their commuting habits and those results are measured against baseline surveys conducted in 2007 to see how each business has progressed. The City of Edmonds was recognized for reducing vehicle miles traveled by 46.4 percent, Community Transit said.
