Edmonds portrait artist Mike Reagan will discuss his work with the Fallen Heroes Project at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 10 at Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park, sponsored by Edmonds-based VFW Post 8870. The meeting is open to the public

The foundation provides hand-drawn portraits of our nation’s Fallen Heroes — those men and women who have sacrificed their lives while serving in the military.

Reagan began drawing the portraits five years ago, when a young widow contacted him to commission a portrait of her husband who had been killed in Iraq. Immediately, he knew that he would draw the portrait for the grieving widow, and he would do so free of charge. Drawing on his experience as a combat veteran, Reagan committed himself to providing surviving families with portraits of every man or woman killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

To date, the Fallen Heroes Project has given away more than 3,300 portraits. Reagan completes two portraits every day, operating from his Edmonds studio seven days a week.
