Ex-Edmonds-Woodway High School basketball player Angela Woods, who has played the last two years at North Idaho College, told My Edmonds News that she has verbally committed to play basketball at Central Washington
University in Idaho next fall.
A 2011 EWHS graduate, Woods was a member of the Warriors’ varsity squad that made two appearances in the State 4A girls basketball tournament.
Although it won’t be official until the April signing period, the 5-9 guard said she is looking forward to becoming a Wildcat.
“I visited the campus and really liked it,” Woods said, adding she had a good talk with the coaches and current players. “It’s pretty close to home to so my family and friends will get to see me play,” she said. “It just seems like a really good fit for me.”
And what about facing her good friend and former EWHS teammate, Sydney Donaldson, on the court when Central meets Western Washington University during the regular season?
“I never would have imagined, with how well [we] played together, that we would be playing against each other,” Woods said. “She’s been such a supportive friend to me, win or lose, there will never be any hostility between us.”
Woods said she had “an amazing two years” at North Idaho College, during which time the team went 52-11 and even made it to the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament last month. “I learned a tremendous amount from my coaches that I will be able to bring with me to Central,” she said.
Woods said she is undecided on a major, although she is “leaning more towards education or sports management.”
