Goal of May 5 benefit concert: Raise money to send kids from military families to summer camp

“Because of the Brave,” a benefit concert for Operation Xtreme at CRISTA Camps, will be presented on Sunday, May 5, at 7 p.m. at the Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave. N. in downtown Edmonds. Operation Xtreme offers school-aged military children the opportunity to spend a week at summer camp and experience paintball, dirt bikes, horses, team-building and nightly firesides, free of charge. This year 500 kids are expected to participate.

The concert is sponsored by North Sound Church, located at 4th and Bell in downtown Edmonds, and will feature the Mosaic Arts Northwest Choir and Orchestra, a performing arts community of the Pacific Northwest consisting of 80 singers and 20 instrumentalists. The concert repertoire includes Americana, jazz, bluegrass and gospel music. Veterans and service members will be honored for their service and are encouraged to wear their uniforms.

Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the Edmonds Center for the Arts Box Office (425-275-9595) or at edmondscenterforthearts.org.
