The E-W Warriors softball team lost to the Cascade Bruins Tuesday at home 9-1.
The first two innings were defensive and neither team scored, however in the third inning Cascade jumped out to the lead when Taylor Mannino hit a double followed by Paige Miller’s triple. The Warriors answered right back with a solid single from Moni Jackson. Jackson moved to second base on a sacrifice from Cassady Orstad and then stole third base. On a fly ball to center field from Brooklynn Bailey’s hit, Jackson tagged up and ran home, and the score was tied 1-1.
The Bruins started off the fourth inning with a triple from Makinlee Selleveld followed by another triple by Taryn Salter and a double by Alex Deaver. The Warriors failed to score and left the inning trailing 3-1.
Cascade added another run in the fifth inning, but the biggest burst came in the sixth when the Bruins tacked on five more runs. The Warriors had a few errors in the field which helped Cascade, however the Bruins were hitting the ball extremely well. Both Sage Anderson and Courtnie Gallardo hit doubles along with nicely placed singles by Whitney Harris and Chloe Macintosh.
E-W would not score again and the game ended with Cascade winning 9-1.
The Warriors play their next game at Mariner High School this Thursday at 4 p.m.
