The first phase of the demolition work on the building south of the Waterfront Antique Mall is now complete, and a pile of rubble is all that’s left of the former home of Mike the Mover and several other businesses.

Crews will spend the next few days separating salvageable and recyclable materials from the debris and cleaning up the site in preparation for its redevelopment as Salish Crossing.

A reminder that all businesses north of the demolition area are open.

Salish Crossing owner Nick Echelbarger also announced Tuesday that construction will begin soon on a Grand Walkway from the southeast corner of Salish Crossing to the retail buildings. The wide walkway will provide a pedestrian-friendly entrance to complex.

In addition, starting June 12 the complex will feature a Wednesday evening public market, Echelbarger said.
