  1. “What hath God wrought?” was the first message send via telegraph from Washington D.C. to Baltimore, MD. The photos show the answer.

    But the irony is that Samuel Morse, inventor of the telegraph, originally planned for the wires to run through pipe; not strung on poles. Why?; because strung wires ruined the view. Remember, Morse was, at that time, America’s foremost portrait painter and a highly respected artist.
