It’s a beehive of activity at the new Edmonds Fresh IGA as crews stock shelves, polish counters, and prepare tasty delicacies for the bakery and deli in preparation for tomorrow’s much-anticipated opening of Edmonds’ new downtown full-service grocery.

“Think of this as a ‘soft’ opening,” said owner Mike Trask.  “We’ve still got plenty to do, and it will take a few weeks to get everything ship shape. Look for a grand opening celebration on June 5, with lots of special surprises for the community.”

Deli manager Brent Kuester has the smokers going full blast on the loading dock, filling the air with mouth-watering aromas for several blocks in either direction. “I’ve got brisket and jerky cooking right now,” he said. “Turkey and ribs are going on this afternoon, and everything will be in the case when we open tomorrow morning.”

“It took a lot to make this happen,” said Trask. “It’s a real testament to the property owners and managers, the Edmonds community, my great employees, and a host of others for helping to make this a reality.”

  2. Let’s promise ourselves we will shop here at least once a week no matter what so that folks who have limited transportaton available will have regular access to their food+ shopping needs! Thank you IGA friends so much!

  4. I went there this afternoon, i couldn’t wait to get a store back here in town! It’s great to see some familiar faces and all the new ones! The place looks great and i’m happy to have this store in town to which i will be once again doing most of my shopping at. Thank you IGA!

  5. I hope that you’ll consider all the neighbors when you have your smokers “going full blast”. Wood smoke may be tasty but it is also carcinogenic https://www.pscleanair.org/actions/smoke.aspx . Many many people live within “several blocks in either direction” that will no longer enjoy all the fresh marine air Edmonds offers.
