Kudos to Meadowdale Parent Resource Group on accomplishments

Meadowdale logoMeadowdale High Parent Resource Group (PRG) released a list of accomplishments for the 2012-13 school year:

We designed, printed, funded, collated and distributed the Parent Resource Guide to new student families.  Organized and executed a grounds cleanup (Garden Party) in August. Provided volunteers to assist on Picture Day. Provided volunteers to hand out schedules in September and January.  Provided chaperones for the Homecoming dance. Provided volunteers to supervise during the Food Drive.  Supplied snacks for the Counseling Center. Funded Invest in Education. Provided volunteers for AP Art. Purchased German 3 textbooks for Sean Griffin. Purchased “Shane” books for Jerry Christianson.  Purchased “All Quiet on the Western Front” for Eric Clem.  Purchased much needed books for the library by request of Rita Ireland.  Provided funding for an Author visit for the library by request of Rita Ireland.  Provided volunteers for Walking for Fitness. Funded scholarships for students in need.  Sold breakfast goodies at Mom’s Cocoa Corner Mondays and Wednesdays.  Donated soup for Empty Bowls.  Provided volunteers to be Election Monitors.  Provided breakfast for a Staff meeting.  Provided judges for the Iron Maverick.  Provided funding for buses for Math/Science field trip to Pacific Science Center.  Provided funding for “Unmasked” literary magazine.  Provided evaluators for Senior Project.  Provided volunteers for the Mock interviews.  Provided textbooks for Special Ed program.  Provided cookies for Senior Project evaluators.  Provided chaperones for the Art Center field trip.  Provided snacks for EOC.

Parent Resource Group meeting last meeting is June 10, 6:30p in the Library. We invite parents of incoming 9th graders to  get an overview of the nuts and bolts of high school life and  have a chance to ask questions about high school life from experienced MHS parents.  You will also have a chance to meet the new President!

Welcome to Rina Redrup who has taken the role of President for the 2013-2014 school year!  We are so excited to have Rina on our team!  Come visit her at our meeting on June 10.

 A HUGE thank you to all the volunteers who donated their time, money and resources this year!  Volunteers are a huge part of MHS and we are grateful to each one of you for investing in our staff and students.

 Volunteer Opportunities

 Brain Food needed!  MHS is providing an after-school review session for students who are taking the Algebra EOC.  We would like to provide healthy snacks for about 40-50 students.  We are looking for snacks such as Juice, Milk, Fruit, Something Salty, Something Sweet.  Bring to the Main Office on June 3.   You can also sign up on Sign up Genius at:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0448A4A628A13-mhssnacks

 Spring Cleanup – We have scheduled a time to weed and rake the grounds.  Join us on June 1 from 10a to 2p or June 2 from 1p to 4p.  Let’s make MHS beautiful!

WASC Conference needs host families for October 11-13, 2013:  The conference provides positive leadership opportunities for high school students and advisers from Washington State.  This year the conference will be hosted by Wesco, and will take place at Glacier Peak High School.  We need 13-20 host families to house 3-4 student leaders while they attend a conference held at Glacier Peak High School in Snohomish. Families will feed dinner on Friday evening, and breakfast both Saturday and Sunday mornings. The other meals will be provided by WASC. You will be responsible for bringing the students to MHS and picking them up when they return. They are being bused to Glacier Peak High School in Snohomish during the day. This is a great opportunity for us to welcome student leaders from different communities to show them our Maverick spirit! MHS All-Night Grad Party – There is still time to sign up seniors for grad party scheduled June 15, 9:15 p.m.  Buses are filling up so don’t wait until the last minute.  We want to make sure we have room for everyone!  If your student has need of financial assistance, please see your student’s counselor or Mr. Naegeli.  Scholarships are available on a first come, first served basis.  Our last committee meeting is Wednesday.  June 7 Senior Parent Send-Away Party! 4:30 – 7pm at the American Brewing Company in Edmonds. Please join us to celebrate our seniors!

 June 10 7pm in the Library – Final Booster meeting of the year. We will discuss outreach to incoming families, board positions,  and put some dates on the calendar for next fall. This last meeting will be a great opportunity to brainstorm for next fall!
