Have you heard? Martha Stewart has taken the leap into the world of online dating. Encouraged by Matt Lauer during a “Today Show” interview, she agreed to give it a whirl. With the help of Match.com’s CEO, Stewart crafted a profile that has garnered over 20,000 views. That makes her one of the most popular users in the history of the site!
This week she was back on “The Today Show” and told Lauer that she has narrowed her 1,000-plus emails down to two men she plans on emailing. She mentioned during the interview how “time consuming” the process has been.
Now, some skeptics are saying she’s doing this for publicity for her new book, “Living the Good Long Life.” Whether publicity stunt or not, in the days since Stewart has joined, there has been a large influx of new users over the age of 50.
My take on it? I have always been a proponent of using online dating as a method to meeting someone new. As long as you follow common sense rules of safety, sites like Match.com and OurTime.com can boost your social life and lead to love. I am definitely Team Martha and can’t wait to watch her story unfold!
