Two were hospitalized with minor injuries following a three-vehicle collision Tuesday morning at Highway 99 and 220th Street Southwest; one vehicle involved ended up striking a building that formerly housed the O’Reilly Auto Parts store on the southeast corner of the intersection.
Edmonds police report that the crash started when a red sedan traveling southbound on Highway 99 ran a red light, was clipped by a vehicle traveling westbound through the intersection, then was “T-boned” by an eastbound vehicle. The sedan ended up hitting head-on the unoccupied building currently being renovated, smashing some windows along the building’s west side.
“Two of the drivers were transported to Swedish-Edmonds with non-life threatening injuries,” said Edmond Police Department spokesman Sgt Mark Marsh said.
Traffic in the area was affected for more than an hour after the 6:10 a.m. incident.
