Edmonds Kind of 4th right around the corner

edmonds4thAn Edmonds Kind of 4th is just a few weeks away, and event sponsor the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for a day of festivities, running from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The day starts with a 5K fun run/walk, followed by a children’s parade, main parade, and an evening mini-concert and fireworks show that draws over 25,000 spectators.

The children’s parade sponsored by Windermere Real Estate of Edmonds features local youth dressed in costumes, riding bikes, trikes and scooters, pulling wagons and playing music. All entrants will receive ribbons recognizing their participation in the big event. A lucky few will be awarded prizes for:
– Best Bike or Scooter
– Best Wagon or Stroller
– Most Original
– Most Patriotic

The Main Parade, sponsored by Lynnwood Honda, features 10,000 spectators in a  two-hour march through the heart of Edmonds. Annually, awards are bestowed on parade participants. This year’s awards include the following:
1. Most Patriotic
2. Most Original
3. Funniest
4. Mayor’s Award for Overall Excellence
5. Best Decorated
6. Chamber of Commerce Award
7. Grand Marshal
8. Community Service Award for the Citizen(s) of the Year

Fourth of July activities are supported through a $30,000 grant from the Hazel Miller Foundation.
