A 35-year-old Edmonds man was charged Wednesday with second-degree attempted kidnapping for allegedly trying to snatch a 4½-year-old boy Sunday during a Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event near the Seattle Center, our online news partner The Seattle Times reported.
Tra Young is scheduled to be arraigned on the charge on June 19. He remains in the King County Jail in lieu of $750,000 bail.
According to the probable-cause statement outlining the police case against Young, the alleged victim and his family were attending the event at Seattle Center on Sunday morning. Standing near the corner of Fifth Avenue North and Broad Street, the boy was holding his aunt’s hand when Young approached from behind and grabbed the child’s left arm, pulling him from his aunt’s grasp, the statement says.
