Here’s your chance to try out water sports and enjoy a waterfront barbecue as Beach Camp at Sunset Bay hosts an open house and Edmonds Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting with Edmonds Mayor Dave Earling this Friday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The Beach Camp program combines more than a dozen ocean sport activities with an educational component of marine science and marine life photography/video, for students ages 10 to 17.  It also works to increase student confidence and self-esteem with watersport activities accessible to all levels of experience and ability.  The facility is also available for groups, corporations, and organizations.

Friday’s open house will give parents and students an opportunity to try out stand up paddle-boarding, kayaking, zip-lining and sailing.

Beach Camp welcomes parents and students to visit the Sunset Bay wharf and meet camp counselors during the open house.

You can sign up for one of the Beach Camp week long summer sessions by contacting the Edmonds Parks and Recreation Department at: 425-771-0230, or online.

  1. My 11 year old grandson went to beach camp last week. It was a chance of a lifetime. He had so much fun and learned more than he ever could have in the classroom. The counselors are amazing. So much fun and respectful of every child and their abilities. This will be a yearly experience for us. The most memorable moment for him was when he was swimming in his wet suit and a baby seal jumped on his back thinking he was his mom! AMAZING
