Edmonds Kind of Fourth of July 2013: What you need to know

From a fun run/walk, to parades, to a firefighters waterball competition, to a soccer game, to evening entertainment and fireworks, Thursday is definitely an Edmonds Kind of 4th! Here are all the details of one of our community’s signature events, sponsored by the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce and made possible through the support of the Hazel Miller Foundation.

5K Fourth of July fun run/walk at 10 a.m. through historic downtown Edmonds (starts at Edmonds City Park, 3rd & Walnut).

Children’s Parade at 11:30 a.m. with 2,500-plus children in costumes, in wagons, on bicycles

Main Parade at noon with nearly 10,000 spectators lining the streets for a two-hour march through the heart of Edmonds. The parade features award-winning marching bands, local celenbrities, street performers, magnificent floats and even a few politicians waving from convertibles.

Annual Waterball Competition featuring local firefighters at 2:30 p.m. at City Park, 3rd Avenue South and Pine Street.

Northsound SeaWolves Soccer vs. U-23 Sounders, 4 p.m., Edmonds District Stadium, Edmonds-Woodway High School, 7600 212th St. S.W. Note that the SeaWolves players will be walking in the main parade and will be handing out free tickets to Thursday’s game!

Fireworks Display & Evening Concert at 7:30 p.m. Civic Field, 6th & Bell: As day turns to dusk, thousands of friends and family gather at Civic Field in Edmonds for evening of music, good food and entertainment. The night culminates with a spectacular fireworks display that illuminates the Fourth of July night sky.
