Edmonds summer fun continues with contests, concerts and movies

The Fourth of July festivities may be over, but summer fun is just beginning in Edmonds. Here’s a list of what the Edmonds Park and Recreation Department has in store for the next month. Note that all events except the cannon ball/belly flop contest are free!

CANNONBALL/BELLY FLOP CONTEST Friday, July 12, 6 p.m.
How big is your splash?  This fun, annual event benefits the Edmonds Youth Scholarship Fund.  For ages 5 and up.  Winners from each age group will win a prize. $5 entry fee.  Held at Yost Pool 9535 Bowdoin Way, Edmonds WA 98026.  For more information call Edmonds Parks & Recreation 425.771.0230.

SAND SCULPTING CONTEST
Tuesday, July 23, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Form a team or build on your own!  Fun, free, amateur contest open to all ages. Sign up at Marina Beach at 10 a.m. and start building. Judging at noon and awards at 12:30 p.m.  Bring your buckets and shovels. Sponsored by Nama’s Candy Store.  For more information call Edmonds Parks & Recreation 425-771-0230.

EDMONDS OUTDOOR MOVIE NITES
Fridays, July 26 and Aug. 2
Join us at the Frances Anderson Center Playfield for a free, family night of movie entertainment. Bring your blanket or lawn chair to watch a blockbuster hit on a giant inflatable screen!  The movie begins at dusk (around 9pm). Refreshments will be sold.
