Roberta F. Rice, a former long-time Edmonds resident, passed away August 6, 2013 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born June 2, 1937 in Malad City, Idaho. As a young child, she moved with her family to Seattle where she grew up and graduated from Lincoln High School. Roberta married her husband Bruce in 1958. Throughout their close and loving 50-year marriage, Bruce’s employment took them to various locations throughout the United States, Japan and two tours to Heidelberg, Germany.  Bruce and Roberta were avid volksmarchers and together walked thousands of miles throughout Europe and the U.S.  With God’s blessing, it is our hope that Bruce, who preceded her in death, and Roberta are now back together planning their next volksmarching trip, this time in Heaven.

Roberta leaves behind two sons, David and his wife Karin, Scott and his wife Donna and four grandchildren that she cherished, Kaela, Landon, Katie and Christopher.

Roberta’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Courtyard by Regency (formerly Beehive Homes) for their love and care of their mother for the last five years.

A celebration of Roberta’s life will be held in the Seattle area in November and Bruce’s and Roberta’s ashes will be combined and scattered at a later date.
