City to host free rain garden workshop Sept. 17

Will you chip in to support our nonprofit newsroom with a donation today? Yes, I want to support My Edmonds News!

Rain GardenOn Sept.17 from 6-8 p.m., the City of Edmonds will host a free workshop aimed at teaching community members how to create their own rain garden. The workshop will be held in the Edmonds Plaza Room at 650 Main St., above the library.

A rain garden allows you to control drainage safely while also protecting local creeks, lakes and Puget Sound from polluted runoff.

At the workshop you will learn how to design and install a rain garden in your yard that will filter pollution, potentially reduce flooding and attract beneficial pollinators.

Registration for this free workshop is required and will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis, so enroll early. Email Michael Cawrse at michael.cawrse@edmondswa.gov or call 425-771-0220. Include your contact information in your email.

If you have questions about rain gardens, you can contact Marilyn Jacobs at Marilyn@raindogdesigns.com.
