Dogs have their day at annual Halloween Howl

Dogs and their owners took the opportunity put a canine spin on Halloween season Saturday, with the ninth annual Halloween Howl at the Off Leash Area Edmonds dog beach.

The festivities included pet-friendly vendor booths, a silent auction and raffle, and the always-popular doggie costume contest. Taking home the prize for the “Most Original” was the Zoey the boxer, dressed appropriately as “The Poominator” and wearing boxing gloves, shiny athletic shorts and a fighter’s robe inscribed with the words “I pity da foo’ who don’t clean up da poo!”

Bailey, dressed as a hammerhead shark, received the award for “Funniest” and Miley the Jack Russell Terrier won the “Best Sports Team Dog” for her costume “Rodeo Horse.”

“Best Owner and Dog Combination” was Drake, dressed as the Big Bad Wolf, accompanied by his owner as Little Red Riding Hood.
