Members of the 1973 Meadowdale High School football team were reunited at the school’s homecoming football game last Friday night, 40 years after the team finished its season a perfect 10-0 and outscored opponents 248-66 — a school record that till stands. Both the AP and UPI wire services voted Meadowdale No. 2 in the state that year, even though No. 1 Wenatchee High had a 9-1 record.  Team members pictured, from left: front row — Bill Ewing, linebacker; Bart Cartensen, guard; Dave Wilde, linebacker; Gary Smith, guard; and back row — Richard McKenzie, tackle; Mark Fenimore, center; Tim Anderson, guard; Glenn Rice, guard; Lyn Sorenson (Class of ’74 end, who was along for the fun) and Steve Reed, center. Not shown is quarterback Mark Hobbs, who was named All-Conference that year. Note that you can watch a halftime video interview with three members of the 1979 team via last week’s archived Meadowdale-vs.-Shorewood homecoming game.
