Warrior soccer, volleyball teams each clinch share of first place in Wesco South

It was a good night for Edmonds-Woodway athletic teams as the Warrior girls’ soccer team beat Lynnwood 8-0 and the volleyball team beat Cascade 3-0 to clinch at least share of the Wesco league title in both sports and the No. 1 seed for their respective playoffs.

In soccer, Rylee Peterson and Hannah Thuesen scored two goals each in the victory. Also scoring were Gabby Clark, Cassie Richins, Melissa Long and Hannah Thuesen. Savanah VanCitters and Jaclyn Metz each had an assist. Kiera Towell was in the goal for E-W (12-1-2 league, 12-2-2 overall).

In volleyball, E-W (9-1, 11-3) was led by Rebecca Sharp with 32 assists and two aces. Syd Eck had 11 kills, 10 digs and three blocks; Selena Eschen had 4 kills and 5 aces; and Amanda Paavola had 8 kills.
