  1. Fantastic to see these birds at rest and as such close range. They come to my feeders constantly and I get to watch them feed for brief moments but I don’t get to see the great detail shown in these wonderful photos. The light captures their feathers so well.

  2. Awesome lil’ birds-& photo! Wow! I know Anna’s Hummingbirds stay here year round. What’re the other types, does anyone know?

  3. Great photographs, Leroy!! Such detail…..We have the Annas and Rufous in our front yard and they visit right at our front room window. We have had 3 nests for the last 3 years in our rhody right by our ft. window (about 5 feet away)…..Incredible to watch the babies in the nest. The nests are incredibly small and yet, one year, we had 3!!! babies in one of the nests…..This nest was only a couple inches across. We watched them from our window the whole time they were developing….mama feeding, etc. The very day they flew out of the nest I got a photograph of one sitting on the telephone wire in front of our yard looking down the street……..His first big outing….The nest is so camoflaged that even knowing exactly where it is, one still has to search for it each time.
