Updated with information on appointment to Liias’ House seat
The Snohomish County Council on Tuesday appointed Washington State Rep. Marko Liias (D-21st District) to fill the Senate seat left vacant by the resignation of Paull Shin.
Liias, the sole candidate to seek the position, will be sworn in at the state Capitol on Wednesday.
The council also appointed Liliian Ortiz-Self, 53, of Mukilteo, to fill Liias’ position in the House of Representatives.
