Clubs and Activities: I have been part of a Girl Scout troop since I was in third grade. Other activities include windsurfing and sailing. I am also part of a FIRST robotics team since last year. My role on the team is team manager.
Awards: I have earned my Bronze and Silver award in Girl Scouts. I am currently working on the Gold award now, the highest award given in Girl Scouts.
Community Service: I have volunteered multiple times at Food Lifeline, a local food repacking facility for food banks in the area. I have also volunteered at Sail Sand Point, a non-profit sailing center. I helped out instructing young children how to sail.
Future Educational Goals: My plan includes going to Running Start next year and then transferring into a four-year college.
Future Career Goals: I am still exploring my career options but I would enjoy a career in a S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) field.

Awards: Part of the first place team in the Lynnwood league of the FIRST Tech Challenge robotics competition, part of the winning alliance team in the Lynnwood/east interleague FTC competition.
Community Service: Volunteered at Sail Sand Point, a non-profit community sailing center, for one summer helping with maintenance of the boats and facility and helping teach classes there as a T.A.; Volunteered to reset one of the fields at FIRST Lego League qualifiers and help set up the event the day before.
Future Career Goals: Becoming a game designer
Anything else we should know? I have played baseball, tennis, and racquetball competitively before but haven’t continued playing them competitively.

Edmonds-Woodway High School

Clubs and Activities: I have been in the Edmonds-Woodway Swing Club since freshman year. Junior and senior year I have served as Co-President and have been heavily involved in lessons. Other interests include hiking, skiing, singing to myself and general shenanigans with friends.
I also spend lots of my time tutoring in math, biology and chemistry. I also participate in a freshman mentoring program called Warrior Connection.
ASB: I have aided with ASB projects throughout high school. My main interest has been homecoming celebrations and last year I was part of a team to restructure the Edmonds- Woodway celebrations to include more school unity. I was selected as a senior appointed officer and have enjoyed being more involved in leadership at my school.
Athletics: Lindy hop is my only true athletic exertion. I love going out swing dancing in evenings, especially during Seattle events when international dancers come and visit.
Honors: I am a National Honors society member as well as being a full International Baccalaureate Diploma candidate.
Awards: Snohomish County Peace Action Essay contest Second Place, EWHS Outstanding Achievement in Biology Honors, 2010 Perfect Attendance and DiMiero Jazz Fest Outstanding Musician (Vocal).
Community Service: I have been participating in World Vision’s 30 hour famine for four years in order to raise funds and awareness for world hunger efforts. I also have been known to volunteer at Madrona Children’s Theater as well as Driftwood Players.
Culminating project: I researched phosphate and nitrate effects on phytoplankton biomass in the Mukilteo Waterfront and Edmonds Marina for my International Baccalaureate program extended essay.
Current Employment: I work summers at Argosy Cruises.
Future Educational Goals: I plan on attending college and earning a minimum of a master’s degree in field ecology, environmental science or conservation biology. In the next few years I plan on getting lots of hands-on research. I also plan on taking time to explore some activities in which I have not dabbled: perhaps rock climbing or sailing?
Future Career Goals: I plan on being part of a research team or head of my own research team. Optimistically, I hope to be able to travel and see the world while studying it and the impact of humans on it.
Anything else we should know? I am honored to be selected for student of the month and was quite pleasantly surprised by it. I would like to thank my family and Rhiann Tougas for supporting me and putting up with my crazy life.

Meadowdale High School

Athletics: I played football for the Meadowdale Mavericks. I was the varsity middle linebacker this year and we made it to the state quarter finals. We were the fifth Maverick football team in school history to make it that deep in the playoffs, so that was quite an accomplishment!
Community Service: For my senior project, I am going to volunteer at the Alderwood Boys & Girls Club.
Current Employment: I am the current executive grounds keeper extraordinaire at Tessa’s Adult Family Home.
Future Educational Goals: After high school, I will most likely be attending a community college for two years then transferring to a university after.
Future Career Goals: I’m still not totally set on that. I have it narrowed down to physical therapist assistant or firefighter.

Clubs and Activities: Unmasked Art and Literary club and I am a link leader
Community Service: I volunteer at a mosque that teaches kids how to read and write in Arabic so that they can read the Quran. We also teach the kids more about the religion of Islam.
Culminating Project: I am working on my senior project– the unmasked magazine. I am the design and layout manager.
Future Educational Goals: God willing, I am going to attend Edmonds Community College for two years then transfer to the University of Washington for another four years, inshAllah (God willing)
Future Career Goals: InshAllah (God willing) in the future I want to be a pharmacist and be an independent woman, inshAllah (God willing).
Anything else we should know? I want people to know not to judge others by their appearances because what matters is what’s on the inside, not what’s on the outside. Sometimes the people that you would never imagine could do something and achieve the most and are more successful in their lives.

Scriber Lake High School

Anything else we should know? I like school and see the importance of earning a proper and sustaining education. You can either work hard now and earn more later on or don’t work hard today and make much less tomorrow. I work hard for my future family.
