Craig Smith of Edmonds shot these photos Sunday afternoon on the beach below the Edmonds Senior center. "I was looking out across the sound and the whale breached very close to a docked ferry," Smith said. "He then swam south, giving the folks on the fishing pier a very good view of several more breaches."

    1. Hi Craig,
That’s probably the best gray whale breach photo(s) ever from Puget Sound. Would you be interested in allowing us to display those at the new Langley Whale Center on Whidbey?

  1. Nature’s coming back. I grew up in Edmonds in the 50’s / 60’s and spent many a day on the waterfront, beach, or out off Edmonds in our little sailboat. Never did I see a whale, sea lion, seal, otter, eagle, or anything besides a seagull or flounder. Now you can find all of those. Nice to see Mother Nature making a comeback.

  2. What great shots! I wish I were there to see it in person. I bet I was at work and in front of a computer at the time. I’m also very jealous!
