Talk about a brother and sister act. Edmonds-Woodway High School twins Grant and Brittany Whitcutt each won the pole vault event for their respective boys and girls track teams during the Edmonds-Woodway Meet vs. Mariner at Edmonds Stadium Thursday.
The Whitcutt twins are sophomores and they both do multiple track and field events, said their dad, Roy Whitcutt. Grant — who made a pole vault of 8 feet Thursday — lettered in track as a freshman last year. “His goal is to go to state this year in the high jump,” Roy Whitcutt said. “He jumped 6′ 1″ last week and also plans to do the decathlon. This is his first year in the pole vault.” Grant also plays football for Edmonds-Woodway.
Brittany, who also plays volleyball for E-W, is in her first year competing in the pole vault. Thursday’s vault was 7 feet.
“They are great siblings to each other and very supportive of one another,” Roy Whitcutt said.
