Children’s parade fun to highlight ‘An Edmonds Kind of Fourth’

A highlight of the “An Edmonds Kind of Fourth” celebration presented by the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce is the Children’s Parade, featuring 2,500-plus kids marching down the street carrying banners, dressed in costumes, pulling wagons and playing music.

Parade routes 2014Children compete to win awards like “Most Patriotic”, “Best Bike or Scooter” and a few other categories. Children’s Parade registration is free and begins on July 4 at 10:30 a.m., with the parade starting at 11:30 a.m. Applications can be downloaded in advance at www.edmondswa.com. Free face painting is offered during registration, so arrive early to register and get your face painted.

With an over-100-year tradition, “An Edmonds Kind of Fourth” — with ongoing support from the Hazel Miller Foundation — kicks off a summer full of family- and community-centered activities.

Here’s the event schedule:

Fun run 4th 20145K Fun Run/Walk 10 a.m.

Children’s Parade 11:30 a.m.

Firefighters Waterball Competition, Edmonds City Park, 2:30 p.m.

Evening Entertainment & Vendors, Civic Stadium, 7:30 p.m.

Fireworks, Civic Stadium, 10 p.m.
