Letter to the Editor: Justin McMahon for 21st District Position 1

Editor:

I wanted to write you today to tell you why I support Justin McMahon for Washington State Representative for the 21nd District, position one (1). I cannot vote in this race and I do not often tell people how to vote. I would rather have each person look at all the options and come to a realization themselves; having said that, I understand that it might be difficult for the voters to get to know the candidates as I have.

Having met and spoken with the Democratic candidates, I wholeheartedly endorse and recommend the good voters of the 21st district to elect Justin McMahon. All the candidates are decent people and I do believe that they want to serve their district and state, but with Justin, I know from experience that he is a fighter. I have known Justin and the work that he has done for years. I know and have seen him stand for those who have the least among us. I know and have seen him fight for justice and equality for all, even when the odds were against him.

Let me explain. I work for teachers. I spend a great deal of time advocating for a quality education for all students, regardless of their economic status. For years now, we have known that we need to fund our schools, but we have not seen a great deal of movement. We need legislators that will make the tough choices, even when they are unpopular. I know that when Justin says he will fight to fund our schools, he means it. I have seen him do it. I know that he will continue to fight until the job is done.

Beyond education, I know that Justin will fight for our environment so that there is a world to leave our children. I know that he will fight for mental health services because once we fully-fund our classrooms, we must keep them safe from any potential violence. Also, prisons are not hospitals.

Justin is not a politician. He, like me, is an advocate for equality and dignity, for education and the environment, and for fairness under the law and justice for all. He doesn’t have to sell me on the idea that he will fight for me, he’s been doing it the whole time. I hope that the people of the 21st will vote for Justin McMahon, not just for the 21st, but for all of Washington.

Thank you,

Mario Brown

  1. “I cannot vote in this race and I do not often tell people how to vote.” This comment from the Washington State Democratic Chairs Organization as he directs your vote.

I am well past mature and have supported the Democrat Party all of my life. Mark me done. Two terms of Liar in Chief Obama is all I need to know, even WA State needs a change.

Please examine for yourself the decline of this great Country and vote your conscious for a better future..

  2. YOU WERE CORRECT AND I AGREE WITH YOU – PEOPLE NEED TO MAKE THEIR OWN INFORMED DECISION, NOT ACT ON YOUR OPINION. I ALSO AGREE WITH THE EARLIER WRITER — THIS COUNTRY IS MORE AND MORE IN DECLINE — SCHOOLS DO NOT NEED MORE MONEY, THEY NEED PARENT INVOLVEMENT AND MORE DEDICATED TEACHERS.

  3. It is now easier than ever to RESEARCH all candidates, and this is important to get ALL of the information in regards to different candidates, their history, where they worked, their speeches, etc. A simple search at Google with just a name gives pages of information. Some of our elderly that do not wish to use the computer to “research” (including some of us tired of our computers) can just ask a young friend, neighbor, family member, help at the library, community centre, etc. There is no excuse these days for not being informed before voting, and now it is a snap and very easy to KNOW anybody running for an office.
