The Edmonds Police Foundation will be hosting Edmonds Night Out this Tuesday, July 29 from 5-8 p.m. at the Francis Anderson play field.
Edmonds Night Out is an offshoot of the National Night Out, an annual event held to bring police and community together in an attempt to combat crime. Robin Heslop, former head of Crime Prevention in Edmonds, started this event as a grassroots effort that she organized around the Block Watches.
In 2002 and 2003, Edmonds won two national awards from the National Town Watch organization that puts on the “National Night Out”event. This year’s event is being sponsored by the Hagen Firm, Windermere of Edmonds, the McDevitt Family, Campbell Nelson Volkswagen/Subaru, QFC and My Edmonds News.
You can enjoy free ice cream while watching Edmonds Police K-9 demonstrations; have your face painted and watch the clowns. Learn about community safety issues and meet the Edmonds police chief and several members of the police department.
