Scene in Edmonds: They’re not kidding, folks

From Larry Vogel: Edmonds police are clearly following up on their recent announcement to step up efforts to ensure pedestrian and traffic safety. This motorcycle officer, barely noticeable behind the corner plantings, was seen closely watching traffic Thursday morning at Fifth and Dayton. Police say they will be issuing citations for failure to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks, and for motorists practicing "California stops" at stop signs. Here's a link to the informational flier they will be passing out to those who are stopped.

  1. Hurray that the previous article and the flier list responsibilities for pedestrians, too, but anyone want to guess how many pedestrian citations the Edmonds police will issue during this effort?

  2. Thank you to the Edmonds Police Department helping to alleviate this problem. I believe more people will come to come, linger, shop. eat, etc in a pedestrian friendly town which will help Edmonds thrive.

  3. Pedestrians need to be cited for not using cross-walks…too often they wonder out acting like clueless toddlers and cross the street from between cars on busy streets. It makes it very hard to predict these wanderers ignoring common sense cross walks.

All attempts at enforcement are greatly appreciated…thanks Edmonds P.D. !
