Council to discuss zoning for Westgate, Highway 99; possible change in meeting format

Zoning changes proposed for both the Westgate and Highway 99 commercial areas are on the agenda for the Tuesday, Aug. 27 Edmonds City Council meeting. The council will also discuss the idea of changing its meeting format to include alternating weeks of information-only work sessions and council business meetings, where votes are taken.

Nearby cities follow the work session format, including Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace.

Also on the Tuesday night agenda:

-An informational presentation on affordable housing by Mark Smith, Executive Director of the Housing Consortium of Everett & Snohomish County.

– Discussion and possible action on Municipal Court Judge compensation.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. with an executive session on collective bargaining, followed by an interview of an applicant for the Edmonds Sister Cities Commission. The regular council meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers, Public Safety Complex, 250 5th Ave. N., Edmonds. You can see the full agenda here.
