Scene in Edmonds: It’s the Ice Bucket for Councilmember Buckshnis

Edmonds City Councilmember Diane Buckshnis took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Saturday afternoon -- a public awareness and fundraising campaign that has swept across the nation in recent weeks. Buckshnis said she took the challenge -- which involves being dunked with ice water -- in honor of the late Councilmember Peggy Pritchard Olson, who died in November 2009 following a battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Buckshnis proceeded to challenge members of the Edmonds news media. My Edmonds News Publisher Teresa Wippel and writer/photographer Larry Vogel will accept the challenge Sunday afternoon during the City's picnic honoring its volunteers.
