CALL FOR ART: Pieces by Northwest School artists Mark Tobey, Morris Graves, Guy Anderson, Helmi Jovonen and Kenneth Callahan are requested for a juried exhibition at the Edmonds Arts Festival Museum in November.
The Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation, Edmonds Bookshop, and The Edmonds Arts Commission are sponsoring a special showing of work by artists from The Northwest School. Work by the artists was featured recently at Seattle Art Museum and Woodside | Braseth Gallery. The Edmonds show is of importance because four of the Northwest School artists – Tobey, Graves, Anderson and Jovonen – lived and worked in Edmonds and Woodway.
The CALL: This will be a juried exhibit with art provided by residents of Edmonds and Woodway. The work will be loaned to the Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation Museum for the duration of the exhibit, Nov. 3-Dec. 12. Only a few pieces of each artist will be selected and all donors will be acknowledged in upcoming press, if interested. For more information on submissions please contact Marni Muir who will be curating the exhibit at marnimuir62@gmail,com or mobile 425-697-0232.
THE BIGGER CALL from curator Marni Muir: I feel so fortunate to have heard from so many people but I have one specific artist that I need: Guy Anderson. And if anyone knows of the piece by Guy Anderson that is titled ‘Grandmother’s House in Edmonds,’ please contact me.
