We ran a story recently about Melanie Herring, who is representing Edmonds in the Miss Washington USA pageant in October. Another local woman competing in that pageant is 23-year-old Jane Stone, a 2009 Edmonds-Woodway High School graduate who received her degree in business administration from Edmonds Community College. She began her career as an employee in the banking industry, and now serves as a branch banking supervisor.
Stone says she has “high aspirations of becoming a retail banking executive someday and a national advocate of financial literacy with aims to make financial management easier and comprehensible for everyday people.”
Stone also owns House of Stone, an online fashion store, selling her handmade jewelry, painting and crafts. She said she is currently in the process of partnering with a non-profit organization benefiting women who have been victims of rape and domestic violence.
She said she is seeking the Miss Washington USA title so she can become a positive influence in her community, becoming “a spokeperson for financial literacy and women’s welfare.”
The Miss Washington USA pageant is set for Oct. 18 and 19 in Burien, and will feature swimwear and evening gown competitions. The Miss Washington USA winner will go on to compete in the MISS USA Pageant, for the right to represent the U.S. at the Miss Universe Pageant.
