Police wrap up investigation of 4th and Bell collision; case now with prosecutor’s office

EPDpatch_smEdmonds police have finished their investigation into the May 20 SUV-pedestrian collision at 4th Avenue North and Bell Street, and have sent the case to the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s Office for their review, an Edmonds police spokesman said Wednesday.

The collision killed 73-year-old Edmonds resident Lexie J. Hess as she was walking eastbound on Bell Street, crossing 4th Avenue North.  The driver of the late-model SUV that struck Hess was a 36-year-old Edmonds woman.

According to police spokesman Sgt. Mark Marsh, it could take a month or longer for the prosecutor’s office to decide whether to charge the driver. At the time of the accident, police said there was no indication that drugs and/or alcohol were a factor.
