Friday morning power outage triggered by squirrel affects 2,600 PUD customers in Edmonds

About 2,600 Snohomish County PUD customers were without power in downtown Edmonds and the Westgate and Yost Park neighborhoods Friday morning, all because a squirrel ended up in utility district equipment, triggering an outage.

Snohomish County PUD spokesman Neil Neroutsos said the outage was first reported at 8:44 a.m. and power was restored to most customers by 11:45 a.m. “The cause of the outage was a squirrel that got into our equipment and caused a malfunction,” he said.

  1. Had a power blip right around 10am here in Esperance, but only lasted a second or two.

Let’s have a moment of silence for that extra crispy squirrel.

    Ignored
