Author Wally Carlson will be signing his newest book, “Annie’s Second Wind,” at the Edmonds Bookshop, Saturday, Oct. 18 at noon.
Barbara Kindness told My Edmonds News: “Readers of Annie’s Second Wind will delight in the lively antics of Annie Perkins, a 75-year-old who lives on Seven Sisters Island in Puget Sound with and her unusual band of acquaintances. Annie, the only living relative to suddenly orphaned twin great-grandbabies, wondered if she could handle them. Did she even want to? And would the State let her?”
“Annie’s Third Wind,” the second in the Annie series by Carlson, has some of the same memorable characters, although some have departed, and new ones have emerged. They all have one thing in common: to see justice served, be it for fellow human beings or an abandoned orca named Starbuck.
“Carlson has spun a multi-faceted tale both hilarious and poignant. Challenging dearly held assumptions—about age, about money, about what is good and proper behavior—’Annie’s Third Wind’ lets loose the wild woman and her unlikely cohorts as they rise to the occasion and let the world know exactly what some old codgers can do when pushed to the limit.”
