In honor of the International Day of the Girl, the Days for Girls Edmonds Chapter will take part in a Global Sew-a-Thon this Saturday, Oct. 11. Volunteers will gather at Community Christian Fellowship on 615 Glen St. from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to sew, assemble kit components, string bags and more.
Days for Girls is an international grassroots non-profit organization that has made reproductive health awareness, education and sustainable feminine hygiene its mission.
You can read more about the history of the Edmonds Days for Girls chapter in our previous story here.
On Saturday, thousands of volunteers from 280 chapters worldwide will be sewing and assembling for 24 hours to see how many kits can be made. Even if you can’t sew, stop by the Edmonds party as there’s plenty to do, the group says.
To date, Days for Girls has distributed more than 100,000 kits to girls all over the world, including Edmonds. Even if you can’t sew, stop by as there’s plenty to do, the group says.
I am unable to attend tomorrow, but would like to help and be involved. Could someone contact me with information on local groups or upcoming events?
