EPIC Group Writers welcomes author Lois Brandt on Monday as part of the speakers series in the Edmonds Library at 11 a.m. The event is free, although seating is limited to the first 20 people. Brandt’s talk, ‘Marketing for Introverts:Theme,’ is for writers considering publishing their work. Brandt offered this preview:
“This presentation will help writers play to their strengths when either selling published work or approaching agents and editors. Many writers hesitate or balk at marketing for fear of sounding like a used car salesman. How do you market your work without compromising your story and/or your values? Session participants will explore the themes in both their own writing life and in a specific piece. We will then take these themes and use them to outline a fresh approach to marketing.”
Brandt’s short stories have appeared in ‘Highlights’ and other children’s magazines. Her picture book, ‘Maddi’s Fridge’, tells a story of friendship, promises, and childhood hunger. Brandt teaches writers of all ages, helping her students tell the stories they hold close to their hearts. She teaches creative writing at Bellevue College Continuing Education and gives talks about writing to children and adults.
