Scene in Edmonds: A purr-fect evening at museum gala

Auctioneer Michelle Westford holds an as-yet-unnamed 5-week-old kitten, auctioned as part of a kitty adoption package.  Arriving at the shelter without it's mother, the kitten has been bottle fed by shelter volunteers for the past several weeks.  The lucky winner will have to wait an addition few weeks for the kitty to be weaned off milk and begin eating solid food.

Edmonds' Holy Rosary parish hall was filled to capacity for the Edmonds Historical Museum's second annual Heritage Days banquet and fund-raiser.  While final numbers have yet to come in, preliminary fundraising figures are in excess of $20,000.  Funds will help  complete planned exterior renovations to the historic 1910 Carnegie Library and fund the ongoing work of the museum in the community.

Keynote speaker Nancy Leson addresses the more than 200 attendees at this year’s Heritage Days banquet and fundraiser. Leson regaled the audience with stories and anecdotes from her years of writing and talking about food for area media outlets.
