Teresa Wittmann of Westgate Elementary School in Edmonds was named the 2014 Outstanding Teacher Librarian by the Washington Library Media Association.
Wittmann will be recognized at the association’s annual conference in Yakima on Oct. 3. She will be presented with a plaque and a $500 check. The Washington Library Media Association supports statewide librarian programs through training, grants, scholarships and professional awards. Wittman was chosen for “Teacher Librarian of the year” because of her leadership in professional activities, service and collaboration with the librarian and school community.
Wittmann has been teacher and librarian for 27 years. She has been Westgate’s librarian for 10 years. She is a graduate of Whitman College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree, and the University of Washington, where she earned her teaching certificate. She also holds a master’s degree from Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass.
