As the sun rises on Saturday, Oct. 4, we gather one more time to close out a wonderful season at the Edmonds Summer Market. This season we have welcomed so many wonderful new vendors, from organic farmers like the Alvarez Family, to new processors such as McSweet’s, Joe’s Garlic Sauce and The Mustard Co. We have also welcomed back many friends who have been with us for most of our 20 years, like Phil with his honey, Jocelyn with her jewelry, Dara with her painted glass vases, Gypsy Rows, many of our flower vendors and so many more.
This week is a wonderful time to come down and stock up for the fall and winter. St. Jude’s will return with plenty of their delicious tuna, as well as Wilson Fish with smoked and fresh salmon to barbecue for Monday Night Football. With the Seahawks playing Monday Night, Sky Valley Farm is offering a special on its chicken wings! Perfect to cook up for a pregame or half-time snack.
Thinking of what would be perfect for the game, my mind drifts to some fresh salsa from Bubba’s with his delicious chips or maybe some of that great freshly- made Garlic Sauce. Then for the after-game celebration, pick up some fresh apples for a pie, or maybe simply a freshly made pie from Deborah’s. So many varieties to enjoy, both savory and sweet!
Our Snohomish farmers will have a great selection of winter squashes, beans, carrots, broccoli, tomatoes and more! From our farming friends from over the mountains, you fill find plenty of fresh apples and pears, plus some late season pluots to tempt your taste buds.
Finally, this is the weekend to pick up that beautifully crafted wooden bowl, earrings, necklace or glass pumpkin you have been gazing at all summer. Our market is so lucky to have such a fine selection of hand-crafted items, perfect for holiday gifts and a sweet treat for yourself.
Thank you all for making this season so special for all of us who call Edmonds home for 24 Saturdays every summer. We will return next summer for our 21st season, opening in May as usual with our Garden Market in the parking lot by the police station, and then the Summer Market will open one week early, in mid-June, back here on Bell and 5th. See you at the market!
