Freezing temperatures were no match for the holiday spirit that warmed attendees gathered at Centennial Plaza Saturday night for Edmonds’ annual tree lighting ceremony.

The annual event, sponsored by the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce, featured adult and children’s choirs from North Sound Church and Maplewood’s Middle School Jazz Band, plus a special visit from Santa Claus, who led the crowd in the annual countdown to the tree lighting. Pat McKee of Nama’s Candy emceed the event, while Edmonds City Councilmember Tom Mesaros provided the official city welcome.

After the tree lit up the clear night sky, many attendees warmed up with hot refreshments at the nearby Edmonds Conference Center, where Santa was available for photos.
