McPheeters concedes, congratulates Strom Peterson on election victory

Allen McPheeters, Edmonds City Councilmember Strom Peterson’s opponent in the race for the 21st Legislative District, conceded the race to Peterson Thursday and congratulated him on his victory.

“While Strom and I disagree on… well, nearly every issue that we ever discussed, it was a pleasure sharing a stage with him during so many candidate forums. I wish him and his wife, Maria Montalvo, well — especially during what promises to be a very difficult legislative session in 2015.

Peterson, who received 60 percent of the vote, said in a statement issued Thursday: “I am honored to be able to serve the people of the 21st District and am especially proud to serve with Senator Marko Liias and Representative Lillian Ortiz-Self. Together we will be a strong voice for our kids, our working families, and our environment.”

“We knocked on thousands of doors and called even more voters throughout the district,” said Peterson. “I was grateful for the opportunity to talk to voters and really hear their concerns one-on-one.”
