The Meadowdale High School football team will be playing in familiar surroundings this week.
The Mavericks host Auburn in a 3A Regional playoff game at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 7 at Edmonds Stadium.
Meadowdale (7-2 overall) is coming off a tough 55-34 loss to Wesco 3A rival Marysville-Pilchuck. The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak.
Auburn (6-3) beat Lakes 49-27 last Friday. The Trojans finished third in the South Puget Sound League.
The Mavericks’ defense, which struggled to contain the Tomahawk ground game, faces another stiff challenge against an Auburn squad, which scored six rushing TDs against Lakes. Trojan running back Patrick O’Dell ran for 137 yards on 15 carries and scored three touchdowns.
Auburn lost two of its first three games but since then has won five out of its last six contests.
Edmonds-Woodway, meanwhile, will host Issaquah in a non-league contest at 7 p.m. Thursday at Edmonds Stadium. That game marks the end of the season for the Warriors, who were eliminated from playoff contention with a loss to Glacier Peak two weeks ago.
